The 11th issue of “Law Firms in Ukraine 2013. The Annual Market Research” has been released

On 25 November 2013, Yuridicheskaya Practika Publishing released the 11th issue of its “Law Firms in Ukraine 2013. The Annual Market Research”. The research contains the quantitative report on the key indicators of the legal services market in Ukraine in 2012 - the first six months of 2013 and an expert discussion on the current trends in legal business management. The current issue displays averaged data on the revenue of law firms, the market average hourly rates by categories of lawyers, dynamics of clients’ inquiries, indicators of billing and recruitment, models of profit distribution between partners, concepts of cost management, and the matrix of specialists’ turnover.

The research of law firms in Ukraine has shown that there is a market trend of capping and fixed fees, a significant spread of hourly rates and remuneration of lawyers, extremely selective HR policies, and the limited supply of specialists in the market. Foreign consultants draw one’s attention to the key market trends, including the larger role of legal departments acting like competitors concerning projects and personnel.

For the first time, the research included the clients of law firms. Their responses developed a picture of how law firms are seen by their clients. The results of the client survey showed that by mid 2013 the budget share for external legal advisers in the cost structure of legal departments did not, on average, exceed 45%, and the key factor of their engagement is their specific expertise.

The current issue offers a special research on management of the legal business in Russia based on analysis of various aspects of management, including partnership, HR management, cost, practices and industries, client relations and business development. Experts included representatives of the three segments of the Russian legal market – national, regional and international companies, as well as market analysts.
