The III St. Petersburg International Legal Forum
The III St. Petersburg International Legal Forum will take place on 15-18 May 2013. The Forum is organized on behalf of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation and the Supreme Commercial Court of the Russian Federation with the support of the President of the Russian Federation. The International Bar Association (IBA), American Bar Association (ABA), the Law Society of England and Wales and Russian Corporate Counsel Association are among the official partners of the event.
During its lifetime the Forum has proven to be the largest international platform for top-level discussions between politicians, lawyers, businessmen and scholars – representatives of all major legal specializations and systems. Every year a number of treaties and agreements aimed at the development of legal cooperation between Russia and other countries are signed during the Forum.
In 2013 the business programme will open on 15 May with a Plenary Session called “Competition and Cooperation between Legal Systems: the Role of Law in Ensuring the Development of Society, the State, and the Economy” which will be held at the Mariinsky Theater New Stage. On 16-18 May in the East Wing of the General Staff Building (State Hermitage) the programme will cover more than 50 discussion sessions organized into tracks based on principal legal specializations:
- Corporate practice / Compliance
- Public Law / Rule of Law
- Law Practice Management / Standards of Legal Profession
- Litigation and Arbitration Practice
- Finance / Investments / Trade / Competition
- Telecommunications / Innovations / Information / Intellectual Property
- Sports Law
- Resources and Energy
- Cultural Heritage
- Notariat
The questions for discussion, from the enhancement of legal regulation in business international development to the legal aspects of cultural goods protection, are not limited to global law issues. The Forum is also expected to become a discussion platform for experts of particular specialties.
The Forum brings together government representatives, ministers of justice, judges, bars, lawyers, and counsels from more than 50 countries. The holding of various business events in a new format will also become a part of the Forum.
Besides, III St. Petersburg International Legal Forum offers its guests a unique cultural programme to make their stay in St. Petersburg really unforgettable. The delegates are invited to admire the new performance opening night, to visit the Hermitage in the evening hours, to enjoy a nighttime boat trip along rivers and canals, which is a real hallmark of St. Petersburg. An exclusive package of excursions and other activities will also suit even the most discerning taste.
