Gide Loyrette Nouel organized seminar on restriction of advertising for pharmaceuticals

On 6 June 2012 the Kiev office of the international law firm Gide Loyrette Nouel (GLN) organized a seminar on the subject Restrictions on advertisement of pharmaceuticals: practical aspects and recommendations. The seminar brought together representatives of Ukrainian and foreign pharmaceutical companies, media specialized in the pharmaceuticals sector and a special guest form the State Inspection on Consumer Rights Protection. The seminar was presented by Evgenia Paliy, Ph.D., GLN associate specializing in pharmaceutical law issues.

The seminar included a presentation of legislative changes with regard to pharmaceuticals advertising, in particular the complete prohibition of advertising for prescription medicines and partial restriction of advertising for over-the-counter medicines which will enter into force from 14 July 2012. GLN presented a legal analysis of promotional methods which may be employed by pharmaceutical companies in Ukraine after 14 July 2012 and the extent to which they will be affected by the above mentioned legislative changes.

The special guest of the seminar from the State Inspection on Consumer Rights Protection Mr. Alyeksyeyev answered numerous questions regarding application of the On Advertisement Act of Ukraine and spoke about the most common mistakes in advertising of pharmaceuticals as well as the most frequent reasons for the application of fines for both advertisers and distributors.
