CMS Cameron McKenna held a seminar on Buying and investing outside of Ukraine

On 19 April 2012 CMS Cameron McKenna held a seminar dedicated to Buying and Investing outside Ukraine. The seminar was intended for companies and its shareholders who are seeking to expand overseas, or are looking to buy stakes in Ukrainian companies through offshore holding vehicles. The seminar was presented by Graham Conlon, an English-qualified corporate partner based in Kiev with a raft of experience helping companies with cross-border transactions.

Graham started by giving lively examples of several transactions he has advised on in various jurisdictions, focussing on the types of problems that shareholders had to face and how they were able to overcome them. He continued with practical advice on what to look out for in the due diligence process and on how to structure the transaction. Graham also touched upon common risk areas, and how to protect against them. Mr. Conlon says: “Although based physically here on the ground in Kiev, much of what I do is regional nature. For example right now I am helping clients to invest in Romania, Serbia, Poland, Russia, Ukraine and elsewhere - being able to help clients implement their deals in a pragmatic and cost-effective manner is a part of my job that I particular enjoy."

The seminar was attended by representatives of major Ukrainian investments banks and in-house counsels of major companies from various sectors of the economy.
